Save the U.S. EPA Campaign Responds To Scott Pruitt’s Overdue Departure

Kansas City, KS (July 5, 2018) — The following is a statement by Denise D. Morrison, Acting President of AFGE National Council of EPA Locals #238 concerning EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s departure from the Trump Administration on Thursday:

“Scott Pruitt was never qualified to lead the federal agency tasked with protecting public health and the environment. Pruitt’s so-called leadership gave hazardous land and toxic chemicals a free pass to imperil Americans. He was the steadfast ally and champion of big polluting industries and he was the architect of unrelenting hostility toward federal, professional scientists, engineers all other EPA employees.

Pruitt was the antithesis of an environmental steward. His name must live on in infamy for countless ethics transgressions and his wasteful gravy train of fiscal mismanagement.

But the proverbial fox hasn’t left the henhouse. Pruitt’s blatant disregard for regulations mustn’t be the standard for his former coal lobbyist successor at EPA, Deputy Administrator Andrew Wheeler.”
